The Netherlands'' ultimate comfort food — mashed potatoes with vegetables and smoked sausage.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 lb kale, stems removed, chopped (or sauerkraut, or endive)
- 4 smoked sausages (rookworst) or kielbasa
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- Salt, pepper, nutmeg
- Gravy and mustard for serving
Method

Boil potatoes until tender. In last 5 min, add kale to the pot.

Drain. Mash together with butter and milk. Season with salt, pepper, nutmeg.

Simmer sausages in water 10 min until heated through.

Serve stamppot in a mound with sausage on top, gravy, and mustard.
